Maintain Good Oral Health With Regular Checkups

Dental checkups are essential for maintaining optimum oral health. Although you may maintain a good oral hygiene routine at home, visiting the dentist every six months is essential. At ATI Dental Care, we conduct dental checkups for our patients to ensure that they are not suffering from any oral condition. To schedule an appointment, call (630) 216-8635.

What Is a Dental Checkup?

A dental checkup includes an examination of the patient's teeth and gums, X-rays, and an analysis of their current oral health. If any physical signs or symptoms of an oral condition are found during the visit, the dentist will address them accordingly.

Why Is a Dental Checkup Necessary?

A routine checkup at our dental practice is necessary to ensure that your oral health remains in good condition. Here are a few reasons why you should get a dental checkup regularly:

  • It helps diagnose oral conditions early on.
  • It reduces your chances of contracting an infection.
  • It allows us to keep our mouths clean and healthy.
  • It helps control your teeth's sensitivity levels.
  • It also helps identify your level of gum disease.
  • The procedure ensures that your teeth are cavity-free.

What Do Dental Checkups Include?

During your dental checkups, we will perform tests like X-rays to get a clear picture of the overall condition of your teeth and gums. If you have any existing oral concerns, they will be addressed during the procedure. Moreover, we will also go through your previous medical history to understand how well you have kept up with your home oral care routine in the past six months. We will also check if you are suffering from regular pain and discomfort while eating and speaking.

We will also take a bite-wing X-ray to determine if you have any improper bone growth in your jaw, which could lead to TMJ disorder or other issues with your temporomandibular joint. In addition to these checks, we will also examine your gums for signs of gum disease and cavities and treat them accordingly if required.

How Often Should You Undergo Dental Checkups?

The frequency with which you should undergo a dental checkup is dependent on various factors, such as your age when you begin developing cavities, whether you suffer from other chronic oral conditions, etc. Based on our observations during your visit, we will decide on the next appointment with us. We usually recommend six-month dental visits for patients who follow a good oral hygiene routine at home and visit us once every six months for a checkup and treatment if necessary.
